Long-Distance Dude

Had a good time last night with Leslie (glowing_dragon) at the Mad Greek restaurant. After she gave me some Canucks stickers that she got at Walmart when she went with her friend Vanessa, we were outta here after I saw Steph and Lisa's wedding invitation! Unfortunately, I had a bit of trouble finding parking; we should have just walked since it was nearby, but it was okay in the end since she had made reservations earlier. I had the chicken souvlaki, and she had the roast lamb. (her water had ice, but mine did not)

We discussed family dynamics, travel preferences, saying grace / praying, pregnancy, perspective, prenatal classes, our parents, Christianity / the Bible / that book I borrowed from her after MissionsFest, my cousin having a kid now, stages of life, the church and the 2012 Mayan calendar, doctors, medicine, future hangouts (maybe at a game sometime), the President's Trophy, her parents' reaction to THE ANNOUNCEMENT, Jon / Harmony (impending parenthood) / Lisa / Steph, our health issues, Las Vegas, and Caesar's Palace. Also talked about Teunis ending a friendship, white Eric, the Red Wings winning 21 games in a row, Facebook / Twitter, Chapters, the playoff seeding, the Canucks / the Bruins / last year's playoffs, rice, potatoes, ouzo, nieces / nephews / tomboys / bonding, Nathan coming back in April (and Ciel), and more. Then we attempted to go to Chapters so I could see if they had a book about last year's playoff run, but it was closing by the time we got to the plaza!

After that, we just went back to her place. Almost as soon as she took the computer off "sleep mode" while I was in the bathroom, she got a YM message from her friend James, who accepted her apology for the previous night. I came out and saw the screen name, so of course she had to explain about his best friend Kim and her idea of a great name! (DUDE, GET A LESS EMBARRASSING SCREEN NAME!) I signed the guestbook, and wondered whether white Eric was secretly pissed off at her since a bunch of his friends seemed to end friendships with her for no reason at all. She didn't know, but that's a nice conspiracy theory! We watched a bunch of funny videos on CRACKED, and looked at some hilarious lists on the site - we could see the Valentine's theme, for sure. She also found THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS for white Eric's Sunday School since she was reminded of it during dinner. It was fun times, for sure!

Yo! I went to MissionsFest last week with Leslie - it was good seeing white Eric and Christon, but I'm going to bug Jon and Harmony about skipping out to go to a (probably non-Christian) play, hahaha! Too bad I didn't feel well since we kinda had to not eat dinner because of the parking situation, and because the organizers moved things up an hour! (who DOES that?!) Good thing white Eric could take my good friend home! Yes, I still have her bowl - she called me yesterday to remind me! If she keeps me posted about INTERESTING stuff, then I will definitely go! Too bad Jon doesn't seem to be doing anything on a group scale with SERVANTS!

I'm back in Canada, where I should be! I called Leslie (glowing_dragon) to let her know, since I tried sending her an MSN message when I was in Hong Kong. The job got way too stressful over there after three years, man... I broke up with Gena because Mom thought she wasn't a good fit for me! She didn't answer the phone, so I was worried that it wasn't her number anymore. When I called her using my sister's phone, she looked at her Caller ID and figured it might be Erica trying to tell her something even though they haven't met. I said that I'd meet her for dinner on Sunday around 7, with her NEW COMPUTER FOR FREE! Yes, I have to do some stuff, but she realizes that full well. Of course it's for her birthday, even though that's past. Maybe I'll even go to the church one day! I want the guys and Leslie to come and watch TV in my basement, man! She updated me on Jon, Harmony, Steph, white Eric, her own life, Jeremy, Nathan and the UK, and more. I want us all to be "hooked up," haha! YAY!

Wow, it's been a couple of months since I updated this thing. I'm still dating Gena, and was very happy to have a NICE chat with Leslie (glowing_dragon) recently! I admire Nate's hockey dedication from the UK, man! Staying up to watch the Canucks playoff games / Olympic hockey games and closing ceremonies shows true fanaticism! I've been pretty busy in Macau and Hong Kong with various emergencies and projects, but I did manage to get away to Vancouver for a mini-vacation. Things have changed so much at work! Now I'll be back by October or November, MAYBE! Got to watch the Canucks vs. Kings Round 1, and saw White Eric at the game! Here are some Blogthings quizzes that I missed:

Dear all.....

For people that wondered "Where the heck.... i went off to?", I have been working away overseas (it has its UPs & downs). It has been a very enlightening & fun learning experience, and guess what?? I am STILL going back for some more!..... hahahaha. Also got to hang out with family, and GOOD FRIENDS such as Nathan, white Eric, Leslie, and JON! He got married!

In order to do that, i had to sacrifice some things (such as breaking things off W/my gurl) cuz i found me & her was indifferent about our life paths.... let's just say part of me was VERY sad (cuz we were together for close to 5yrs!), but i had to build my career. Since i know in my heart SHE wasn't going to be part of my future plans, I had to do that so to "CUT" the pain short. Sigh....

Since in HK, I have been "EYEING" around for new perspectives, and I think there is one special gurl that has whet my fancies. I hope the "DR" can cure my "LOVE" woes, so wish me "LUCK!"... Wink

I will "UPDATE" how it went with the new gurl in my next blogging.....

Besides, I shouldn't really have 13 entries in this journal anymore. Yes, I am aware that I'm updating on Friday the 13th. Oh well. Also, I still can't believe the girl at white Eric's dinner got back together with that... person. Leslie thinks he broke up with her, and then they got back together as an official couple. It may not be a NICE NORMAL CLEAN story, but it's interesting! (at least she isn't gay / lesbian [like those characters in the BLACK DAHLIA!] or like that other person with five girlfriends!) Maybe it'll work out... o_O

The Canucks play the Sharks tonight: HOME OPENER, BABY! :D

I LOVE FAY!!!

Went to Old Spaghetti Factory and saw TALLADEGA NIGHTS with Jon, white Eric, Leslie (glowing_dragon), and Nathan. It was pretty good! My close friends rock, and so does my girl! I have to send Leslie the list of coincidences between me and Fay sometime...

Ricky Bobby is so weird, man! Will Farrell is cool! Gotta hang out at Leslie's B-Day thing too!

We talked about Shanghai Wind, their friend Jen's potluck last night, online dating (not for Nathan or Leslie right now... maybe if they're 45 and single!), chemistry shattered by stuff you find out about people, (the coincidences in) mine and Fay's relationship (I need to send Leslie those things), their friend Dallas (Drake? Willard? Texas? he chose his name when he immigrated here, whatever nickname the guys choose!), joking about everything from Nathan and Leslie really screwing me over to our being really hateful, blogging (Leslie needs to send Nathan the link to my blog), psychology, counselling, how both Nathan and Leslie had helped me (the dinner crew was a few of my closest friends!), the motives behind a guy putting a picture of his girlfriend on his desk (voluntarily or not), the way their friend Sean can be at times (partying and such in New York?), gossiping, Jeremy's homemade beer, etc. Also, we got the "movie ticket and dinner" deal... these certificates expire in two years, so Leslie was able to use the one that her friends Ivan and Karen bought. (that expired in November)

We met Jon and Eric M. at the movie theatre to see TALLADEGA NIGHTS, and Jon made Nathan talk to Myles and Holly's sister Harmony for a bit while he got his movie ticket. Jon says the joke is that he met her at a cougar bar, but they really met at some church thing in Toronto. When there was a reference to cougars (the animal) in the movie, Leslie told Jon that he should tell his friend Fred to see it, haha. (they have an inside joke about the older women who prey on younger men) White Eric told him to hang up since he'd been talking on his phone ever since he picked him up, heh. We saw a preview with an interesting premise for a movie (STRANGER THAN FICTION): this author is writing a book, but has writer's block on how to kill her character. What she doesn't know is that her character is really a living person who hears her voice everywhere he goes! (kinda like ADAPTATION... Jon and Leslie both said "interesting premise" at the same time when we saw that preview, haha!) Then there was one for an animated kids' movie called FLUSHED AWAY... Jon thinks that potty humor is Leslie's thing, but she and I don't agree! (it can be fun, but no...)

The movie and outtakes were kinda funny... hilarious prayers to "the eight-pound, six-ounce tiny Jesus" and pleas for help from Tom Cruise / Oprah Winfrey / Allah! The gay French dude was reading Albert Camus (L'ENTRANGER) while racing, and also drinking a mocchiato! Then there was a kiss between the Ricky Bobby character and the French dude at the end... nice reference to an earlier part of dialogue! (but ew?) The soundtrack was cool: AC/DC, Mötley Crüe, etc. When Monster Magnet's SPACE LORD came on, Jon asked Leslie if she remembered his obsession with that song in Grade 11... of course, and he still has the CD! After the movie, we discussed plans to play Ultimate tomorrow, then went our separate ways toward home... we smelled pot on our way out of Silvercity, yum! (or not... I've never tried it!)

Hey Folks!!

It has been some time since I last updated my blog. The QUICK update is that me and my girl are doin well after some rocky moments in the beginning of the yr... we were able to work it out, and I find when two people go through their difficulties, things tend to improve afterwards!!

Today, I am hanging out with my good friend Leslie and we ate pizzas and will probably watch a movie later. She says she'll find me icons, too!

Just chilled after eating the good Edge / ten-topping pizzas from Pizza Hut... the crust was very good, and not all yucky like certain other pizza companies she could name. (beef, chicken, extra cheese, salami, hot peppers, mushrooms, black olives, Italian sausage, pineapples, and bacon) It was on me since I like hanging out with her and talking about stuff, so it's pretty good. I even opened the SkyFlakes crackers, and marveled at how she organized the contents into Ziploc bags. She says it's called not having to open the container again... whatever works!

We talked about Willingdon Church Saturday night services (which Nathan has been bringing me to), our church's Easter Sunday services (which I plan on attending), her Colorado friend Corey and his ex Rachael, Erik ("the guy who wants to become a girl"), hockey, books, and various websites. (No Pants Day, Things Shoved Up The Butt, FlubTitles, etc.) I still feel bad that I made her TV green for a while there!

Things Shoved Up The Butt reminds Leslie of the story Nathan was telling her and a bunch of others once at Calhoun's after Fellowship: Nathan's friend is a doctor in Princeton, BC.. basically, this guy came in one day complaining of difficulty urinating. The doctors fixed that, and he went home happy. But then he had difficulty doing a "3-1" and had to go back, stinking up the entire hospital in the process. The doctors couldn't find anything with an X-ray except a little black dot, so they used a camera probe to investigate further. Turns out it was a black Glad garbage bag with two Safeway bags in it, with a 12-inch foam thing inside those. Seems the guy's friends had a little TOO much fun when he was passed out drunk.. they decided to stick things really far up his ass. Thankfully, the problem was resolved when the stinky things were removed with tweezer-like instruments. Leslie says that everyone at the table was disgusted by the revolting story, but she reacted like Nathan and found it very funny.. poor guy, though! They apparently decided that they wouldn't do anything like that to Nathan.. they'd figure out less invasive ways of tormenting him. ;)

Corey also tore a phone book in half for Leslie / us on his webcam: I THINK THAT IS NUTS! If he tears me apart next, I think that is cool... but not in the good way, haha. I also think he wants to become a strongman... apparently, they're all old ones since he got new ones last week or something.

Oh crap. The hockey game is depressing me! Vancouver needs to win, and Calgary just scored two goals to tie the game 2-2... there goes the momentum and the stranglehold!

Edit: Vancouver won the hockey game against the Flames 3-2 in overtime! It looked like it might be a shootout, but good ol' Ed Jovanovski (who just got off the injured list today) saved the day for us on a beauty! :D
